Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to live inside of a painting? The more I asked myself this question, the more I created homes for the characters and creatures within their environment.
Juliette Hayt

With its inaugural exhibition, contemporary art gallery The Look Listen is pleased to present “Omnipresent Love,” new paintings and drawings by Juliette Hayt.

On view from February 3–26, “Omipresent Love” features eight oil paintings and six colored pencil drawings from the New York-based artist. Hayt's unique sensitivity to emotional attributes in painting figuratively allow her to express surreal imagery that is simultaneously playful and mind-expanding.

In creating these recent works, Hayt asks us, “Have you ever felt like love was needed everywhere? Do you see it in your reflection in the mirror? Do you feel it when someone looks at you?” As this exhibition demonstrates, Hayt enters a rarefied air in the way she portrays optimism, making her an artist the world needs to see. Benevolent figures transmit wonder as their ethereal forms curve to new lives and elements before your eyes. Vibrant hues and a reverence to playful curiosity bring forth the mood enhancing jolt we all crave.

“When I paint these characters, let’s say, I see it like acting. I don’t look at photographs rather I rely on imagination over how they might feel,” explains Hayt. “It’s almost like I embody them like an actress psychically to create their expression and connect to their imagined realness when I paint them. I have so much empathy for the characters.”

Juliette Hayt (b. 1995, New York) obtained a high school art education in traditional drawing, painting and sculpting at the Huntington School of Fine Arts. She achieved her Bachelors in Fine Arts with honors from New York University. Concerned with both the physicality of the body and psychology of the mind as a painter, she completed her Masters of Professional Studies in Art Therapy at The School of Visual Arts in 2020. Additionally, Hayt received international individual painting training with American painter Thomas Darnell during an apprenticeship in the South of France in 2017. Hayt has exhibited her work in multiple locations throughout the U.S., including New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, as well as internationally in London, UK. She has been featured in multiple programs and publications including Artsy, Pollinate and Anon Magazine, and often facilitates lectures.
